MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. Moscow will never choose the path of self-isolation and is ready to cooperate with other countries based on mutual respect, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

“We will never pursue the path of self-isolation and we are ready for cooperation with the countries of the West and the East based on respect of mutual interests,” Lavrov told the participants of the “Dialogue for the Future: Russia and World Around” scientific and educational program.

“We are not seeking and will never allow entering the self-isolation path,” he stressed.

Lavrov said it is important to launch a discussion on establishing a single economic humanitarian space stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, “a space based on the principle of indivisibility and security,” he said.

Moscow confirmed its readiness to hold a serious discussion on this issue at last week’s OSCE Ministerial Meeting in Basel, and a number of European states have “shown a growing interest” towards this proposal, Lavrov said.

“Russia is interested in developing relations with as many states in the East, the South and the West as possible,” Lavrov said. The latest visits of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan and India confirm these plans, he said.
