MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. Members of the lower house of Russia’s parliament (State Duma) on Monday proposed to raise at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) the issue of inadmissibility of statements of Ukrainian politicians who supported extremists in Chechnya.

“I share the indignation of the speaker of the Chechen Legislative Assembly. The Parliamentary Assembly should by all means raise the issue of inadmissibility of public calls for extremism made by deputies of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament),” member of the Russian delegation to PACE, first deputy head of the lower house international affairs committee Leonid Kalashnikov told TASS. According to him, it’s about time the Assembly prepared a separate report, condemning all the crimes of the current Kiev authorities.

As for the possibility of stripping the Ukrainian delegation of powers, to this end it is necessary to collect a minimum of 30 signatures of the PACE members, representing at least five national delegations, Kalashnikov said.

Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Chechen Republic Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov earlier Monday called for excluding the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

“We heard purely fascist calls from Ukrainian deputies. The Verkhovna Rada quietly supports these criminal statements and demonstrates that Ukraine has chosen the Nazi policy. I consider membership of the Verkhovna Rada [delegation] in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe inadmissible,” he said.

Last Friday, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said the republic would institute criminal proceedings against Ukrainian parliamentarians Yuri Bereza, Andrei Levus and Igor Mosiichuk, who had supported militants’ attacks on a traffic control post in Grozny. They also called for stepping up the attempts to destabilise the situation in Russia, particularly in Chechnya, he said.
