BASEL, December 5. /TASS/. Russia hopes to include its representative in the OSCE 'wiser heads group', Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

“The agreement on continuing the Helsinki+40 Process was one of the most important decisions of the session. It is aimed at preparing a document, which will analyse today’s problems and confirm the Helsinki principles by concrete measures, by the 40th anniversary of the OSCE, the next ministerial meeting,” he said.

“A decision was taken to create the group of ‘wiser heads’ at the intergovernmental level to contribute to this work,” Lavrov said, adding “We hope that a representative of Russia’s civil society, academic circles will be included in this group.”

Russian FM feels no isolation at OSCE council of foreign ministers

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said all that is said about fulfilling 'bloc discipline' is well-known so Russia felt no discomfort at a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Council of Foreign Ministers.

“I felt perfect, felt no isolation, everybody shook hands with me very cordially as usual, made jokes and recalled some cases we are resolving together,” he told a news conference. Lavrov noted that he spent about an hour at the session hall and another seven hours at bilateral meetings which there were 20 of. 'Therefore, I felt no isolation, I felt too much talking,” he explained.

He said that foreign counterparts he has spoken to on the sidelines of the meeting admitted that “[Ukraine's] lustration law is awful and the decree to cut the south-east from Ukraine's economic system is thoughtless, harmful and inhumane”.

The law on lustration implies sweeping cleansing of Ukrainian officials now accused of corruption in their posts.
