Medvedev orders cabinet to start executing orders announced in state-of-the-nation address

“There is a need to prepare all the necessary decisions in the shortest term, especially taking into account the current unfavorable situation,” Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the cabinet of ministers to immediately prepare decisions to fulfill orders announced in the president’s state-of-the-nation address on Thursday.

“The tasks are massive, the responsibility is great, and no delays in the work should be allowed, especially in such a difficult time,” Medvedev told the cabinet of ministers.

“There is a need to prepare all the necessary decisions in the shortest term, especially taking into account the current unfavorable situation,” Medvedev stressed.

Medvedev reminded that a range of orders is to be prepared following the state-of-the-nation address. However, he suggested that the government should “embark on the work already today, without waiting for the orders to published.”

“Deputy prime ministers, ministers and heads of agencies in accordance with the spheres of their competence need already today to focus on accomplishing those tasks defined by the president in the state-of-the-nation address,” he said.

In his address on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized measures aimed at bolstering economic growth and creating the best conditions possible for doing business in Russia.

Putin called for an end to the sweeping control of businesses, for a four-year freeze on taxes at the current level and for the lax taxation of those about to go in business. He also urged full amnesty for capital returning to Russia.
