MURMANSK, December 1. /TASS/. A task force of the Russian Navy’s Northern Fleet including the Severomorsk large submarine chaser has left the English Channel and entered the Bay of Biscay, the fleet’s spokesman, Captain First Class Vadim Serga, said Monday.

Earlier the Russian naval group sailed past Pas de Calais and entered the Bay of the Seine to wait out the storm. Serga said the naval group proceeded the voyage on Sunday.

“During the pause the crews practiced measures against underwater sabotage, which are part of the standard routine for naval ships while anchored offshore in an unprotected area,” Serga said.

Currently, the weather along the route is good enough for flights by anti-submarine helicopters Ka-27. At the moment, air defense and anti-submarine defense teams are conducting training sessions.

The task force consisting of the Severomorsk submarine chaser, the Alexandr Otrakovsky amphibious ship, a SB-406 salvage tug and the Dubna fuel tanker began the voyage on November 20.
