SOCHI, November 24. /TASS/. Russia and Abkhazia have signed the Treaty on Allied Relations and Strategic Partnership.

The new treaty is based on the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation of 2008 that fixed Russia’s recognition of Abkhazia.

Under the treaty, Russia will extend the aid to Abkhazia to over $100 million (5 billion rubles) in 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday.

“In 2015, 5 billion roubles will be disbursed to Abkhazia for implementing the treaty,” Putin told the media.

Putin also said Russia and Abkhazia will consider creation of transit railways between Moscow, Sukhumi, Tbilisi and Erevan.

“If all the parties agree, we believe it is possible to jointly consider this project and then construct transit railways, connecting Georgian cities of Sukhumi and Tbilisi with Armenia on one side and Russia on the other”, Putin told the media.

Earlier Vladimir Pution sai Russia would double aid to Abkhazia. "We're planning to double aid as compared with last year and the current year," Putin said at a meeting with Abkhazian President Raul Khadzhimba.
