Russia supplied over 500 aircraft to Asia-Pacific region over past 15 years
These results were achieved due to constant improvement of products, the president of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Mikhail Pogosyan, said in an exclusive interview with TASS
BEIJING, November 10. /TASS/. The Asia-Pacific region is a major market for supplies of Russia military aircraft, the president of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), Mikhail Pogosyan, said in an exclusive interview with TASS on Monday.
“Speaking on the market of the Asia-Pacific region, over the past 15 years more than 500 aircraft have been delivered and manufactured upon license in the Asia-Pacific countries,” Mikhail Pogosyan said.
“We have managed to achieve these results due to constant improvement of products we supply to the market,” he said.
Russia is ready to offer Su-35 (NATO reporting name: Flanker-E), a 4++ generation aircraft employing technologies of the fifth generation, to China, the company’s CEO said.
“We believe that it has good prospects both on the Chinese market and also on the market of other countries of the Asia-Pacific region,” Pogosyan said.
The first experimental Su-35, designed by Russia’s Sukhoi aircraft maker and built by Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association (KnAAPO), appeared at Russia’s MAKS-2007 air show.
Good prospects for Russian civil aircraft at Chinese market
Russia's civil aviation has very good prospects at the Chinese market, the Russian United Aircraft Building Corporation’s president Mikhail Pogosyan said.
“Talking about the market of the Asia-Pacific region in general, more than 30% of all the civil aircraft will be delivered to the countries of the region in the next 20 years,” he said in an interview to TASS, adding that the Chinese market certainly would be leading.
Pogosyan said he saw good prospects also to promote Sukhoi Superjet SSJ-100 aircraft, implement the widebody airliner project, which is being developed jointly with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd, and good potentialities for wide cooperation between Russian and Chinese aircraft building industries, not only to deliver modern aircraft.
At the first stage of the work on the project for a widebody airliner, its main technical requirements, flight range, passenger capacity, construction and systems were already determined, and it would be the basis for the next stage, he said, adding an agreement was signed for the next stage to design the airliner.
The program will be financed by both parties in equal parts 50x50, and state financing will be the main.
It will require a rather great deal of finances, impossible to be provided by commercial structures, Pogosyan said. He gave no exact figures, saying a working group would give estimates during the next stage of the work.
