Moscow expects Kiev to change the position of the previous government towards investigating crimes in the south-east of the country

MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Russia expects the Ukrainian authorities to take a more responsible position, in compliance with international obligations, on investigating crimes against civilians in the country’s southeast, Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and Human Rights Konstantin Dolgov said on Thursday.

Moscow expects the new authorities to change the position of the previous government towards investigating crimes in the south-east of the country, including killings on Maidan, in Odessa, in Mariupol and the recent discovery of mass graves near Donetsk. "The list of crimes is growing, unfortunately,” Dolgov said.

“We’ll expect the new Ukrainian authorities to take a more responsible position, which will correspond to international obligations. Nobody cancelled these obligations,” Dolgov said.

Russia’s goal remains unchanged: it is necessary to punish those responsible for crimes. “This is Russia’s principled position and it doesn’t change and won’t change,” he said.
