Putin to discuss Islamic State threat with Japan's prime minister at APEC summit
MILAN, October 17. /TASS/. Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit will have a meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss the international efforts in fighting the Islamic State, press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
“The prime minister and the president agreed to have a full-format meeting on the sidelines of the APEC summit, where they will have detailed discussion of bilateral relations and to discuss international efforts in fighting the Islamic State,” the press secretary said.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov did not rule out Putin in Milan might have a short meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. “Abe will be at that forum. During their recent telephone conversations they agreed to have a meeting during the APEC forum, due in China on November 10-11,” he said. “As for Milan, I would not rule out a short contact between the president and Japan’s prime minister.
