MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Russia’s defense and industrial sector can roll out military products without cooperation with Ukrainian defense producers, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said on Thursday.

The deputy defense minister said Ukraine had refused to supply components to Russian defense enterprises despite their contractual obligations, forcing Russia’s defense sector to start import substitution programs.

“We started work from the spring of this year and completed it in summer. We analyzed all armament systems that depended on Ukrainian products in this way or another. We set specific deadlines, persons responsible for this work and specified financing,” the deputy finance minister said.

It was earlier speculated that the Russian industry would be stalled and would fail to fulfill its production plans, the deputy defense minister said. “The Russian industry is capable of producing everything,” he said.

Sometimes, it is economically inexpedient for the industry to manufacture all products on its own but technological security becomes a priority when the international political situation deteriorates, the deputy defense minister said.
