MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday one could not admit inter-ethnic tension in Crimea.

“We should take into account the fact that apart from Crimean Tatars, Greeks, Ukrainians, Germans and Russians live there. This is a very sensitive sphere there. There is no clear interpretation among people of what has happened in this sphere,” Putin said at a meeting with members of the Presidential Council for Human Rights.

This is not an idle problem because “nationalist moods can exist somewhere inside”, he said.

He called for working carefully. Putin said among Crimean Tatars there are people with Ukrainian citizenship. Some of them are deputies of the Rada and take part in international events on behalf of Ukraine. However, they pretend to protect the interests of people living in Crimea and have obtained Russian citizenship, he said.

“These are complicated issues. I’d like these people not to speculate on the past in order to make provision for today and tomorrow for their own,” Putin said.

Russian president added, that Russia will do all for Crimean Tatars to legitimise land rights. He said there are some legal problems that Russia will solve.

Russia is doing much to normalise living standards in Crimea: kindergartens and schools are being built. The Crimean Tatar language has been made one of the state languages, Putin said.
