Russian, Azerbaijani defense ministers sign plan on cooperation for 2015
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Gasanov discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in training personnel
BAKU, October 13. /TASS/. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Gasanov signed a plan on cooperation for 2015 on Monday.
“At present, we’re carrying out a program of developing cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Azerbaijan Republic in the military and military-technical fields for 2013-2016,” Shoigu said.
During the talks, the ministers discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in training personnel.
“At present, fifty-seven Azerbaijani servicemen are studying at the Russian Defense Ministry’s schools on a non-repayable basis,” Shoigu said.
“Education and training of personnel is a very serious moment due to the supplies of military hardware for the Azerbaijani army within military-technical cooperation,” he said.
“We received an application to train additional specialists for the Azerbaijani army. This application has been accepted,” Shoigu said.
The cooperation plan includes many aspects further work for 2015.
“Cooperation in the Caspian Sea between the navies of our countries is a very important aspect. We strictly comply with the decisions of the leaders of our countries, our presidents at their meetings in Astrakhan and Minsk. Much should be done,” Shoigu said.
“We cannot sidestep the problems connected to security and stability in this region and in trouble spots - Iraq and Syria. We also touched on Ukraine,” he said.
