Talks with Ukraine, EU to amend association deal will be difficult — Putin

There is a possibility to amend ceratin parts of the agreement, which could have had a stong negative effect on our economies, Russian President Vladimir Putin says

MINSK, October 10. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin says talks with Ukraine and the European Union on amending the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement (AA) will be difficult. The Russian president has also called on Kazakhstan and Belarus to adopt a common position with Russia on thу issue.

Speaking at a summit of the Eurasian Economic Council (EEC), Putin recalled that Kiev and Brussels had agreed to delay the fulfilment of the Ukraine-EU AA. "There is a possibility to amend ceratin parts of the agreement, which could have had a stong negative effect on our economies," Putin said.

“Talks will be hard, and we should come out with a position of solidarity to persuade our partners to give up counterposing European and Eurasian integration in favor of combining both projects,” he told the presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan.
