MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry are scheduled to hold a meeting shortly, a source at the Russian Foreign Ministry told TASS on Tuesday.

“It is true that there are plans for such a meeting in the near future,” the source said without specifying the likely venue. The situation in Ukraine may be one of the central issues on the agenda.

This year Lavrov and Kerry met several times in various European capitals. Their latest meeting was on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York. Last Friday, Kerry discussed Ukraine with Lavrov by telephone. They agreed to maintain close contact.
