Russia continues sending humanitarian aid to flood-hit Serbia
Since mid-May, Serbia has been struggling with the consequences of the unprecedented floods which killed dozens and displaced thousands of citizens
MOSCOW, October 01. /TASS/. Russia’s Emergencies Ministry has sent another batch of humanitarian aid to Serbia to help the country cope with the aftermath of severe floods, the ministry’s spokesman Alexander Drobyshevsky said on Wednesday.
“Under the Russian government’s decree, around 27 tons of humanitarian cargo — food, warm clothes, blankets and household appliances — were sent to Serbia,” the spokesman said.
An Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft carrying the humanitarian aid for Serbians departed from the Ramenskoye airport to Serbia’s capital Belgrade at 9:10am Moscow time on Wednesday.
Since mid-May, Serbia has been struggling with the consequences of the unprecedented floods which killed dozens and displaced thousands of citizens, and caused billions of euros of damage.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic earlier thanked Moscow for continuious provision of humanitarian aid to the affected citizens of the country, which has been Russia’s traditional friend and ally.
In August, Russian military transport plane airlifted to Serbia another batch of aid, including accumulators for MiG jets. In May, Russia delivered over 100 tons of humanitarian cargo to Serbia.
