MOSCOW, September 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian police have detained two drug traffickers for selling a new narcotic that poisoned over 200 people in different regions, the Federal Drug Control Service (FDCS) said on Thursday.
FDCS quoted experts as saying that these were “absolutely new designer psychoactive substances consisting of two components”.
The detained drug traffickers are marijuana addicts, a FDCS spokesperson said, adding that “they earned the money for drugs by selling designer narcotics”.
Last week, over 150 people poisoned with the new drug were taken to hospitals in the Kirov region, north-west of the Urals, and another 70 were admitted to hospitals in Surgut, a city in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, located on the Ob River near its junction with the Irtysh River.
In some instances, drug-poisoned patients escaped from hospitals after detoxification to be admitted again after a while with the same poisoning symptoms.
