Ivanov visits automobile technology cluster in Vladivostok, rides an offroader

VLADIVOSTOK, September 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia's presidential administration head Sergey Ivanov visited the Far Eastern automobile technology cluster in Vladivostok and rode a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado offroader as a passenger.

Ivanov was shown the entire cycle of operations, from the discharge of ships to the loading of finished autos into railway cars. Seven models of automobiles Mazda, Toyota, and SsangYong are assembled in the cluster grounds within the scope of the Sollers production complex. The enterprise employs 1,400 workers.

To begin with, Ivanov toured the zone for te discharge of of arriving ships. It is located several tens of metres away from the operating shops. He was told that proper contacts had been established with the customs office, as a result of which 80% of production cargoes get customs clearing actually at the moment of a ship's arrival.

Ivanov took note of the fact that the entire territory of the cluster is situated in a lowland and is surrounded by residential buildings in the distance. "This has a disciplining effect," he remarked, explaining that such a layout would not allow any happenings t to escape notice.

He toured the assembly shop where he was acquainted with all the stages of of the creation of automobiles. The technology used here is aligned to a minute to such an extent that any delay of a ship's arrival for only several hours would lead to a complete shutdown of the conveyor line. However, this happened here only once.

The presidential administration head was also told about career development at the enterprise. All new new employees receive a pay of about 23,000 roubles. A further pay rise is directly linked with a successful training and passing of exams at the training center of the enterprise.

Ivanov asked how high a pay may rise if one takes a complete course of training. The answer was that pay would rise 2.5 times over. However, only 15 workrs made it over the four years of the existence of the enterprise.

After touring the shop, Ivanov proceeded on his way to the zone of finished automobiles. He was offered to choose any of them and take a ride. The presidential administration head chose a black-coloured Toyota Land Cruiser Prado car. Ivanov did not get behind the wheel and asked Vice-Premier Yuri Trutnev to help, and took the passenger's seat in front.
