MOSCOW, September 24 /ITAR-TASS/. Russian State Duma deputies are planning to exclude media outlets created under international agreements from a law restricting foreign participation in Russian media to less than 20%
The Duma Committee for Information Policy is expected to adopt a relevant amendment for the bill’s second reading on Thursday, Leonid Levin, the committee’s vice-chairman and one of the amendment’s authors, told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
He explained the amendment, among other things, would make it possible not to apply the law to media outlets created under international agreements such as the Mir Radio and Television Company and the television company of the Union State of Russia and Belarus.
