Russia to support UN Security Council resolution on terrorists and foreign mercenaries
The United Nations Security Council will gather for a meeting in a few hours
UNITED NATIONS, September 24. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia will support United Nations Security Council resolution on terrorists and foreign mercenaries, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said on Wednesday.
“Yes, we will support this document,” he said, adding that it takes Russia’s interests into account. Moreover, in his words, Russia took part in its elaboration.
The United Nations Security Council will gather for a meeting at in just a few hours. A draft resolution on foreign terrorists fighters will be put for voting. The document “Condemns the violent extremism, which can be conducive to terrorism, and sectarian violence and the commission of terrorist acts by foreign terrorist fighters, and demands that all foreign terrorist fighters withdraw immediately from all zones of armed conflict and cease all terrorist acts.”
The document calls on all states to “prevent the movement of terrorists or terrorist groups by effective border controls and controls on issuance of identity papers and travel documents, and through measures for preventing counterfeiting, forgery or fraudulent use of identity papers and travel documents.” The United Nations Security Council will also recommend member states “to employ evidence-based traveler risk assessment and screening procedures, including collection and analysis of travel data.
