Russia to continue humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees — Foreign Ministry
Russia will continue providing humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees on a bilateral basis and through international organizations
MOSCOW, September 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia will continue providing humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees on a bilateral basis and through international organizations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
At the meeting with Pierre Krahenbuhl, Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov “gave a high assessment to the UNRWA’s humanitarian activity in Gaza and several Arab states, particularly in Syria”.
“Problems of Palestinian refugees can be solved based on political settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Russia continues considerable humanitarian contribution to Palestinian refugees on a bilateral basis and through international organizations,” the ministry said.
Krahenbuhl said Russia’s $2 million contribution to the UNRWA budget in 2013 had serious practical significance and drew a positive response in the region.
“The parties agreed to continue a regular dialogue on the UNRWA’s activity,” the ministry said.
