Russia intensifies retraining of officers of Strategic Missile Troops to mobile ground-based missile systems Yars which with 5th generation intercontinental missile RS-12M2 builds up combat capability of the troops’ striking force to overcome missile defence systems, the missile troops’ spokesman told ITAR-TASS on Thursday.

“Along with missilemen from Novosibirsk and Tagil formations servicemen from Yoshkar-Ola missile division will start retraining to advanced missile systems in 2015,” Colonel Igor Yegorov said.

More than 400 servicemen from formations which are already being rearmed with missile systems Yars have learnt to handle these missile systems in early September, he said. In particular, they studied at missile system testing centre at northern Russian space centre Plesetsk that permitted rocketeers “to learn in more details and profoundly Yars systems and units” and to hold practical trainings “on separate issues.
