ADDIS ABABA, September 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma signed on Wednesday a memorandum on understanding on political consultations mechanism.

The document envisages permanent contacts between the Russian Foreign Ministry and the African Union on international arena and joining of efforts in the strengthening of peace and security, settlement of regional conflicts as well as economic and humanitarian problems.

Plans are to hold consultations at least once a year.

The memorandum is not an international document and does not create for its parties rights and obligations regulated by international law.
