Naryshkin sees in West sanctions low desire to pique Russian legislators
MOSCOW, September 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergei Naryshkin sees in the Western sanctions a “low desire to pique” Russian legislators. He said in an interview with Russian information agencies the Ukrainian crisis was only an excuse for the sanctions, as without it the West could find another excuse.
“In reality, this desire to pique is low and is not worth countries claiming to be legal, which say they are practically the Light of Democracy,” the speaker said.
On Friday, the European Union published in the Official Journal a new packet of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The new sanctions say liquidity to major Russian state-owned banks - Sberbank, VTB, VEB, Gazprombank and Rosselkhozbank - may be lent for shorter terms - from 90 to 30 days, and the limitation is effective for companies Rosneft, Transneft, Gazprom Neft, Uralvagonzavod, Oboronprom and the United Aviation Corporation.
The European Union has put on the “black list” 24 new names, where the total number of positions on the list reaches 119, the European Commission’s Official Journal reported on Friday. Under sanctions, among others, are head of the Rostec Corporation Sergei Chemezov, the Donetsk Republic’s Prime Minister Alexander Zakharchenko, and Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the State Duma’s deputy speakers Vladimir Vasilyev, Ivan Melnikov, Igor Lebedev and Nikolai Levichev.
