SIMFEREPOL, September 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine has altered rules for crossing its border into Crimea, Ukraine’s border guard service said on Monday.

Starting from Monday, September 8, documents identifying a person and confirming his or her Ukrainian citizenship are to be presented on Ukraine’s border with Crimea.

Crimea’s acting head Sergei Aksenov said that introducing passport control on the border with Crimea Ukraine made a step towards recognising the peninsula as part of the Russian Federation.

“If these procedures are gathering momentum, it means we are going in the right direction,” Aksenov said. “It is a right decision.”

He said that the sooner Ukraine recognised Crimea a part of Russia the more profitable it would be for them.

“This recognition will lead to new legislative initiatives that could be adopted by our side and Ukraine as well,” he said.
