Yak 242 airliner to get airborne in April 2016
Vice-Premier pointed out that already now orders had been already placed for 150 such airliners
GORKI, September 08. /ITAR-TASS/. The first fuselages of an airlner of MS-21 Design have been already prepared. In April 2016, the first plane Yak-242 will be assembled and get airborne, Vice-Premier Dmitry Rogozin announced.
When speaking at Dmitry Medvedev's meeting with Vice-Premiers Monday, Rogozin said, "The fuselages of a new airliner of MS-21 Design are already in existence and are in the process of assembly. According to plans for the manufacture of the airliner, which is to be put into operation as the Yak-242, the first plane will be assembled and get airborne in April 2016".
He pointed out that already now orders had been already placed for 150 such airliners.
Rogozin said already a fourth plane of MS-21 Design is to be fitted out with Russian-made aircraft engines. "An airliner for 180 passengers is in the highest demand in this class. We have already got more than 150 firm orders placed for this plane,"he said.
Rogozin said, "The Aeroflot, in particular, has placed an order for 50 such airliners".
"The Irkut Corporation plans to turn out a total of 900 airliners, making up to 50 planes a year," the Vice-Premier said.
He pointed out that it was also planned to develop a full-fledged manufacture of the Sukhoi Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) airliners. "They can produce up to 50 SSJ-100 planes a year, beginning from 2015," Rogozing specified.
