On August 29 the Russian Justice Ministry put the Soldiers' Mothers of St. Petersburg on the list of organizations branded "foreign agents"

ST.PETERSBURG, September 08./ITAR-TASS/. The Soldiers' Mothers of St.Petersburg non-commerce organization has lodged a complaint with the Russian Justice Ministry, demanding to remove the organization from a list of non-commerce organizations branded "foreign agents", said lawyer Alexander Gorbachev.

"In recent days we have mailed an appeal to the Justice Ministry, asking to remove our organization from the list because we do not get foreign support," the lawyer said.

"Since August we have been operating on the presidential grant, there were no foreign citizens among the organization's founders," the chairperson of "The Soldiers' Mothers of St. Petersburg" told ITAR-TASS.

Lawyer Vitaly Cherkasov, who works with the organization, said that the Prosecutor's office, which conducted the inspections for three months, had proved the fact of foreign financial support to the organization and that the organization was engaged in politics.

On August 29 the Russian Justice Ministry put the Soldiers' Mothers of St. Petersburg on the list of organizations branded "foreign agents" on the basis of documents submitted by the St. Petersburg Prosecutor's.

On the same day representatives of the Soldiers' Mothers declared they would challenge the resolution of the Justice Ministry in a court of law.
