Russian Grids to send 1,000 diesel generators to Crimea by October
The companies will supply diesel generators with a capacity of up to 10-15 megawatts
MOSCOW, September 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian Grids plan to supply around 1,000 diesel generators to Crimea by the end of September, PR Director Dmitry Bobkov said on Friday.
The supplies are made in accordance with a government ruling, while up to 2.2 billion rubles of costs will be compensated by the federal budget, Bobkov said.
The deliveries will be carried out by the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy Systems (FGC UES), the Moscow United Electric Grid Company (MOESK), Lenenergo, Center Interregional Distribution Grid Company (Center IDGC), and Urals IDGC, all part of Russian Grids, he also said.
The companies will supply diesel generators with a capacity of up to 10-15 megawatts, a source close to Russian Grids said.
Crimea is now about 80% dependent on Ukrainian power and has own power supply from thermal plants, solar and wind power stations.
On Wednesday, Ukraine limited power supplies to Crimea due to insufficient volume of fuel at its power plants and the lack of hydropower sources. Power cut offs to Crimean cities are possible from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
In August, the Russian government allocated over 5.1 billion rubles in compensation for companies’ spending on ensuring reliable power supplies in Crimea.
