MOSCOW, September 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s southern military test site Ashuluk is hosting two military exercises.

First, air and space defense forces held a firing practice using S-300 and S-400 rocket launchers to hit some 90 targets, 20 target missiles and other ballistic targets.

A total of 40 rockets were launched. The exercise involved 800 officers and men and 200 combat and support vehicles.

After the active phase of the air and space defense exercise anti-aircraft forces and Air Force units of the Southern Military District began firing practice. According to the Southern Military District’s press-service S-400 launchers (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) and Pantsyr-S1, Buk-M1 and Tor-M1 will be used.

The current military exercises will last until the end of the week. Some will be held at the Kapustin Yar proving ground and in the Caspian Sea.
