Putin meets local farmers in Far Eastern Amur region

BLAGOVESHCHENSK, September 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin met with local farmers in the Amur region before rounding up his visit to the Far East on Wednesday.

“I have decided to make sure that everything we spoke about last year either has been put into practice or has not been done and how the agriculture sector is being revived,” Putin said recalling devastating floods that hit the region last year.

The farmers said that only the government's financial support had helped the farms survive.

The regional governor, Oleg Kozhemyako, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev and the local district head, Sergei Adamenko, were present at the meeting.
