MOSCOW, August 29. /ITAR-TASS/. McDonald’s has closed a restaurant in the Moscow Region and two in the city of Sochi on orders from Russia’s consumer rights regulator, raising the number of suspended stores to eight, the company said in a statement late Thursday.

On August 20, the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare Oversight stopped operations of three McDonald’s restaurants in Moscow due to violations of sanitary legislation. On August 25, the service suspended operations of the company’s restaurant in the Stavropol Region.

Later the service suspended two restaurants, located in the Stavropol Region and in Yekaterinburg over violations disclosed during checks.

The service has been checking McDonald’s restaurants since August 21.

Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich has said that the Russian authorities do not plan to suspend operations of McDonald’s restaurants in the country.
