MOSCOW, August 28. /ITAR-TASS/. Head of the Russian presidential human rights council Mikhail Fedotov asked Ukrainian parliament human rights commissioner Valeria Lutkovskaya to help settle the situation over detention of Russian servicemen near the settlement of Zerkalny in Amvrosievka district of Ukraine’s eastern war-torn Donetsk region.

“Finding themselves in an area where they were detained Russian servicemen could not understand that they were staying in the neighbouring country. This was reported that similar incidents related with Russian border transgression cases by Ukrainian servicemen also took place and were successfully settled,” Chairman of the Russian Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights Fedotov said in a letter which was posted on the official website of the council.

Fedotov asked Lutkovskaya “to assist...to settle this incident as quickly as possible and to return Russian servicemen to the homeland.”

He also assured her that the presidential rights council was ready “for further co-operation on all human rights issues.”

A group of soldiers from the 331st regiment of the 98th Svir division of Russian Airborne Troops was reported to be detained on August 25 at the official website of Ukrainian Security Service. Russian servicemen are charged with participation in a terrorist organisation, abetment to activity of a terrorist organisation, illegal handling with weapons, ammunition and explosives, Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported on Thursday with the reference to chief of Ukrainian Security Service’s investigation department Vasily Vovk.

Russian servicemen have crossed Russian-Ukrainian border by chance at the place of patrolling and did not resist in detention, Defense Ministry told ITAR-TASS on August 26.
