Russian servicemen detained in Ukraine taken to Kiev’s detention centre — official
The Russian Defense Ministry source also said the Russian servicemen had accidentally crossed the Ukrainian border during a patrol mission
KIEV, August 27. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian servicemen detained in Ukraine have been taken to one of the detention centres in Kiev, National Security Council and Defense spokesman Andrei Lysenko said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, August 26, he said the Russian servicemen “are not prisoners-of-war but detainees”.
The Russian Defense Ministry source also said the Russian servicemen had accidentally crossed the Ukrainian border during a patrol mission and that they had not offered resistance during detention.
The ministry said Ukrainian troops had repeatedly crossed the Russian border. "Ukrainian servicemen repeatedly entered the Russian territory separately or in groups totalling more than 500, with weapons in hands and carried by armoured vehicles and we didn't make much noise about it, simply returning to a safe place in the Ukrainian territory all those who so wished," the ministry’s official said.
