At present, there are enough apples in the region,” Kaliningrad Governor Nikolai Tsukanov said

KALININGRAD, August 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Kaliningrad Governor Nikolai Tsukanov said on Tuesday he was ready to find a sponsor to deliver dozens of tonnes of Polish apples to children of the war-torn eastern Ukrainian cities of Luhansk and Donetsk.

He commented on media reports saying one of the Polish retail chains was planning to deliver 40 tonnes of apples for Kaliningrad schools.

“I want to thank our partners and neighbors [Poland]. We continue our cooperation. We have many joint cultural and economic programs that facilitate good-neighborly relations,” Tsukanov said.

“At present, there are enough apples in the region,” he added.

“I instructed the regional retail cooperative society. They have started buying apples from the population. Many schools have their own gardens. We’re supplying our vegetables and fruits to schools and social facilities. They are enough in Kaliningrad,” the governor said.

“I’d like to ask our Polish friends to send apples to Luhansk and Donetsk,” he said.
