Air defense exercise outside Astrakhan involves some 2,000 troops
MOSCOW, August 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Anti-aircraft defense units of Russia’s Central Military District held range practice at the Kapustin Yar firing range outside Astrakhan on Tuesday.
They fired the S-300, Buk, Tor and Osa antiaircraft missile systems. The maneuvres involved about 2,000 troops and 700 vehicles, the military district’s press service told ITAR-TASS.
“Each unit made two launches from the S-300, Buk, Tor and Osa systems each on difficult targets flying on trajectories characteristic of modern tactical aviation planes and cruise missiles. All the targets were hit successfully,” the press service said.
The military are now returning to their permanent bases in the Sverdlovsk, Kemerovo, Chelyabinsk regions and Altai Krai and Bashkortostan republic.
