Russia servicemen use high-precision ammunition at SCO drills in China

MOSCOW, August 25. /ITAR-TASS/. Artillery gun units from the Eastern Military District have used high-precision ammunition Krasnopol at war games of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) states dubbed Peace Mission 2014, the chief press officer of this military district told ITAR-TASS on Monday.
“Meanwhile, high-explosive ammunition provided with radio-controlled detonators was used. Exploding at an altitude of around 50 metres above the ground they have hit the targets. Fire drills were held at fire ranges from seven to 11 kilometres,” Colonel Alexander Gordeyev added.
The colonel noted that artillery gun units would have to destroy five targets by high-precision ammunition and to use multiple launch rocket systems Grad at military exercises.
Around seven thousand servicemen from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are participating in war games which are being held in China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from August 24 to 29. Russia is represented by over one thousand servicemen, particularly armed with tanks T-72, infantry combat vehicles BMP-2, multiple launch rocket systems Grad and self-propelled howitzers Akatsiya. Four attack aircrafts Sukhoi Su-25, eight helicopter gunships Mil Mi-8AMTSh and two military transport airplanes Ilyushin Il-76 are also participating in anti-terrorist drills from Russia.
