Russia’s Rostov-on-Don airport restarts operations after false bomb threat call
Passengers are entering the airport building freely, flights depart according to the schedule
ROSTOV-ON-DON, August 24 /ITAR-TASS/. An airport in Russia’s southern city of Rostov-on-Don has restarted routine operations after a telephone call about an explosive device allegedly planted at the airport building was found false, Itar-Tass reported from the scene.
Passengers are entering the airport building freely, flights depart according to the schedule.
An anonymous call came earlier in the day that the airport had been mined, after that the air harbour was closed and people were evacuated from the airport building.
Police have checked the air terminal building, but no explosive devices were found at the airport building and the adjacent territory.
The bomb threat call at the Rostov-on-Don airport was found false, spokesman for North Caucasian federal district’s regional transport police Sergei Purgin said.
“A bomb threat call was really made,” he said. “After the call special security measures have been taken at the airport, police dog handlers with sniffer dogs were working at the scene. No dangerous or suspicious objects were found at the airport, arrival and departure terminals. The anonymous bomb threat was false,” Purgin said.
No flights were delayed, he said.
