MOSCOW, August 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian opposition activist Sergei Udaltsov sentenced to 4.5 years in jail for inciting mass riots has stopped his nearly one-month hunger-strike, a Moscow prison official said on Tuesday.

"Medics said Udaltsov is in a satisfactory condition," the official said.

Udaltsov, the Left Front coordinator, went on a hunger-strike on July 25 to protest a ruling of the Moscow City Court, which found him and another activist, Leonid Razvozhayev, guilty of organizing riots on May 6, 2012.

A sanctioned opposition rally on Bolotnaya Square in downtown Moscow turned into violent clashes between protesters and the police a day ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s inauguration. Dozens of protesters and policemen were injured and over 400 people were detained. Investigators said that Udaltsov and Razvozhayev were planning to stage riots in other Russian cities.
