Vega to build new drone for Russian Defense Ministry by 2016

ZHUKOVSKY, August 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s concern Vega is designing a new drone of up to 200 kg for the Defense Ministry and is planning to get it built by 2016, the company’s official said on Thursday.
“The completion date is 2016. The craft will begin preliminary testing this year,” Arkady Syroyezhko, Vega Director for Drones, told ITAR-TASS.
Similar drones are now used by the Army, but they are smaller. “The new one will weigh up to 200 kg and have a wing span of six meters. It can’t be moved around manually,” the official said.
