Putin holds working meetings with acting heads of Sevastopol and Crimea
SEVASTOPOL, August 13, /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday held separate working meetings with Sevastopol’s acting head Sergei Menyailo and Crimea’s acting Prime Minister Sergei Aksyonov.
“They discussed the functioning of urban and republican economies, energy supplies and other subsistence issues linked to the everyday life of these two regions of Russia,” President Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists.
Putin is visiting the federal city of Sevastopol, where the meetings took place, as part of his Crimean tour.
On September 14, Putin will move to the resort city of Yalta for a meeting with the State Duma (lower house of parliament), in which Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin and the heads of all Duma factions will take part.
Putin is expected to make a keynote speech, after which the deputies will be able to ask questions, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
The president will then take a tour of the Chekhov Museum in Yalta and meet with cultural workers to discus Crimea’s integration into Russia’s cultural environment.
This is Putin’s second trip to Crimea after its accession to Russia in March 2014. On May 9, the president watched a naval review and an air display in Sevastopol, having flown over there after the parade in Moscow’s Red Square.
