The taking of primary geological information on the reserves of oil and gas out of Russia for it to be analysed by US companies will be limited, and may be even fully banned

MOSCOW, August 13. /ITAR-TASS/. The Government of the Russian Federation intends to save national users of mineral resources from dependence on foreign auditors through establishing a national system for auditing the reserves of oil and gas, Izvestia writes on Wednesday.

According to the newspaper, the taking of primary geological information on the reserves of oil and gas out of Russia for it to be analysed by US companies will be limited, and may be even fully banned. For the time being, large oil companies of Russia refer geological data, which they have obtained without state-run organizations' participation, to the authoritative firms Miller & Lents and DeGolyer & MacNaughton for analysis.

The inter-agency commission on ecological safety of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Izvestia reports, has assigned the respective agencies and special services to work out measures to ensure information security to prevent an unsanctioned transfer of primary geological data to beyond the country. This is recorded in the Commission session's minutes that are available with the newspaper. The session was attended by representatives of respective agencies, special services, and executives of Gazprom, Rosneft, Rosgeologia, and Russian petroleum service organizations.
