MOSCOW, August 12. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said Ukraine was claiming that the humanitarian convoy route had not been coordinated and making new logistical demands.

“Ukraine’s statements that the convoy route has not been coordinated and its new logistical demands are bewildering,” the Foreign Ministry said. “Given the existing agreements, we hope that the terms of delivering humanitarian aid, which were coordinated with Ukraine earlier, will be implemented.

“With a view to providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Russia, by agreement with the Ukrainian authorities and the International Committee of the Red Cross, has sent humanitarian aid, which includes food, medicines and power generators. Russia also responded to Ukraine’s wishes regarding the convoy route, cargo search and other modalities of the operation,” the ministry said.

The convoy of 198 automobiles is carrying over 1,800 tonnes of relief supplies including power generators, foodstuffs, water, baby’s food, medical supplies and sleeping bags.

The aid will be delivered through a checkpoint on the border between Ukraine’s Kharkiv region and Russia’s Belgorod region, as agreed. After crossing the border, the convoy will proceed farther under the supervision of the ICRC, the Foreign Ministry said.

It expressed hope for “Ukraine’s maximum assistance” in ensuring the security of the convoy which is heading to the embattled Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine.
