Aleksey Navalny and his brother Oleg are accused of a massive fraud in a conspiracy with office abuse and of money laundering

MOSCOW, August 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow refused to change house arrest for a term in the detention centre to well-known opposition blogger Aleksey Navalny, ITAR-TASS reported from the courtroom on Friday.

“The court refused to change the measure of restraint to Navalny to a term in custody,” a source in the courtroom said.

Aleksey Navalny and his brother Oleg are accused of a massive fraud in a conspiracy with office abuse and of money laundering.

Detectives found that they had embezzled 26.7 million roubles (around $753 thousand) from perfume company Yves Rocher Vostok and more than 4.4 million roubles (around $124 thousand) from a processing company from 2008 to 2013.

Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow refused to bring the Yves Rocher company fraud case versus Aleksey and Oleg Navalny brothers back to the prosecutor’s office on Friday.

Meanwhile, the court has set the date of merit court proceedings in a massive Yves Rocher company fraud case on August 14.

Earlier in the day, the court has left under house arrest well-known oppositionist Aleksey Navalny, who ran in early Moscow mayoral elections in 2013.

His brother Oleg is on recognisance not to leave the city.
