Some 11,000 refugees from eastern Ukraine staying in Moscow region
CHEKHOV (Moscow region), July 30. /ITAR-TASS/. Some 11,000 refugees from southeastern regions of Ukraine are staying in the Moscow region, the region’s governor Andrei Vorobyov told reporters on Wednesday. He added that the local social facilities would not face problems because of the refugee inflow, as the refugee status would be granted to just 400 people.
“Indeed, 11,000 people have arrived in the Moscow region, but we should realize that only 400 of them have applied for the official refugee status, and no more people will get it.” “The rest are settling in the Moscow region, looking for jobs, as they are in demand here. They are actively integrating into Russian life,” the governor said. “The most important thing is that jobs are available in the Moscow region, which allows the refugee families to calmly live and plan their future,” he added.
According to the governor, in terms of the accommodation of refugees the regional authorities actively cooperate with the federal center. “The main refugee flow is now coming already not to the Moscow region, but to other territories,” he said.
