Over 2 million Ukrainian citizens arrive in Russia — Migration Service

A total of 4,000 Ukrainians have applied for refugee status and 27,500 people have asked for temporary shelter

YEKATERINBURG, July 25. /ITAR-TASS/. As of today 2.7 million Ukrainian citizens have come to Russia from the conflict-torn eastern regions, deputy head of the Russian Federal Migration Service Sergei Kalyuzhny said on Friday.

A total of 4,000 Ukrainians have applied for refugee status and 27,500 people have asked for temporary shelter, he said.

Sixty Russian regions, primarily the Rostov region, accommodate Ukrainian refugees. They put up at their relatives and try to find job, Kalyuzhny said.

Over 26,000 forced migrants who fled the war-torn Ukraine’s south-east applied for Russian citizenship, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets told reporters on Friday.

“The procedure for granting them citizenship is underway,” Golodets said adding that “the procedure has become simplified.

According to the Migration Service, the flow of migrants will increase.
