Moscow had received no official information from Poland yet about cancelling the Russian-Polish cross-cultural years

MOSCOW, July 24. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow wants strengthening cultural and humanitarian links with Poland despite Warsaw’s decision to cancel all cultural events between Russia and Poland scheduled for the cross-cultural exchange year in 2015, Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich said on Thursday.

“We still consider it important to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties between our countries, and we are not willing to abandon traditional festivals, exhibitions and other projects in Poland, very popular with the Polish public,” Lukashevich said, adding that Moscow had received no official information from Poland yet about cancelling the Russian-Polish cross-cultural years.

“As for cross-cultural years, we will realise similar ambitious plans with other foreign partners,” the diplomat said.

He added that the Russian-Polish cross-cultural years were meant to be a large-scale joint initiative aimed to contribute to a better understanding between the two countries’ people.

“If Polish authorities already made their negative choice in this regard, it speaks for itself,” Lukashevich said.
