MOSCOW, July 24. /ITAR-TASS/. An official of Russia’s Investigative Committee has said that the implication of Ukrainian military servicewoman Nadezhda Savchenko in the death of journalists of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin has been confirmed. Savchenko is currently kept in a detention facility in the city of Voronezh in Central Russia.

Nadezhda Savchenko, gunner of the Mi-24 helicopter and fighter of the Aidar punitive battalion, who has publicly confessed to killing people, will be kept under arrest by court decision until August 30. According to investigators, during combat actions in Donbass in June this year, Savchenko, having learned the bearings of a group of Russian journalists and a number of other civilians outside Sloviansk, reported them to the Ukrainian gunmen, after which the journalists were subjected to mortar fire in which Russian reporters were killed.

“We believe that Savchenko used a cell phone to direct the mortar fire on the reporters and refugees who were staying near them. Her guilt is confirmed, in particular, by her mobile phone call detail record. The phone was confiscated during here detention already in Russia,” head of the Investigative Committee’s department for the investigation of crimes connected with the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare Alexander Drymanov said. “Moreover,” the Investigative Committee’s representative said in an interview published by the Kommersant daily on Thursday, “Savchenko had a squared map of the terrain for directing the artillery and mortar fire.
