Term to apply for refugee status reduced to three days — Medvedev
The total number of Ukrainian refugees in Russia has reached around 380,000 people
MOSCOW, July 22. /ITAR-TASS/. The term to apply for refugee status in Russia has been reduced to three days, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday.
“Medical exam is required for citizens who arrive in the country,” he said. “The government has taken a decision to provide one-time financial aid to Ukrainian citizens, who have refugee status or who are granted temporary asylum,” Medvedev said.
Russia’s government has provided 4.94 billion rubles (about $145.3 million) to solve Ukrainian refugee problems, Medvedev said.
The Russian government has already made budget transfers to several regions in the country for accommodation of Ukrainian refugees at temporary center.
Around 144,000 refugees from Ukraine turned to Russia’s Federal Migration Service for a status that does not include a work permit, Medvedev noted.
“So many Ukrainian citizens have also come to us before, but they came to work here, and these 144,000 are those who asked for a status not related with a work permit,” the prime minister noted.
The total number of Ukrainian refugees in Russia has reached around 380,000 people, the prime minister said.
