Latvia takes unfriendly step towards Russia — Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW, July 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia reserves the right to take measures in response to Latvia’s ban on entry of three artists, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
Latvia’s Ambassador to Russia Astra Kurma has been summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov expressed indignation over the Latvian authorities’ decision to blacklist three Russian singers - Oleg Gazmanov, Iosif Kobzon and Alla Perfilova, also known as Valeriya. They are banned to enter Latvia because “their activities are aimed at violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”.
“Latvia’s Ambassador to Russia Astra Kurma was said the country took an unfriendly step towards Russia amid the unrest in Ukraine,” the ministry said.
“Latvia’s step can have a negative impact on relations between the two countries. Latvia takes full responsibility,” the ministry said.
