Russia hosts 35,000 Ukrainian refugees
Russia’s Emergency Ministry reported that 22,000 Ukrainians were currently staying in 326 temporary accommodation facilities in Russia
KIEV, July 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia and Ukraine have published on Friday a recent migration statistics on refugees from Southern and Eastern Ukraine, where military action is in progress. Some migrants escaped to other Ukrainian regions, others moved to Russia. Therefore, a bill on financial aid to refugees and asylum-seekers was submitted to Russia’s parliament on Thursday, July 17.
Ukrainian presidential aide on peacekeeping, Irina Gerashenko, told ITAR-TASS that, according to the latest reports, there had been 42,000 migrants, 15,000 children among them, officially registered in different Ukrainian regions.
Julia Paukova, deputy head of citizenship and nationality department for Russia’s Federal Migration Service, said that 35,000 Ukrainian citizens sought refugee status or temporary asylum in Russia.
