“I hope that the tragedy will allow the parties to forget about political ambitions,” Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says

MOSCOW, July 18./ITAR-TASS/. Russia will insist on an objective, transparent and independent investigation in the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crash, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Rossiya24 Channel.

“We’ll be ready to make our contribution, particularly logistics, if Russia is required to do something. Of course, we believe that an initiative should be put forth by the authorities of the country where the tragedy occurred,” Lavrov said on Friday.

“There are reasons for hoping that one more video conference will be held shortly for discussing a truce. It is indispensable due to the investigation. A vast territory should be studied,” he said.

“The wreckage is widely dispersed. I hope that the tragedy will allow the parties to forget about political ambitions,” Lavrov said.
